Ameraucanas

Blue Ameraucana cock in garden

At Her Chickies, we’ve been working with Ameraucanas of various varieties, sourced from exceptional lines. These birds are known for their confident and independent demeanors. While they may start off a bit reserved or skittish, they quickly warm up to those who take the time to build a bond with them. The more you get to know them, the more they’ll get to know—and trust—you!

Ameraucanas are best suited for colder climates, thriving in cooler temperatures. They lay the most beautiful shades of blue and make some of the cutest babies!

Silkies

Chocolate Paint Silkie hen in grass with big leaf in front

At Her Chickies, we’ve been working with Silkies of many different varieties, and let us tell you—Silkies truly hold my heart in the palm of their paws! In many ways, Silkies are not so different from cats. They can be bossy and demanding one moment, then shy and playful the next. They require plenty of maintenance and enjoy freedom just as much as any other breed, but their unique personalities make it all worth it.

The more you handle your Silkies, the more they’ll warm up to you—and soon enough, they’ll feel comfortable enough to demand treats, extra helpings of food, and even insist on being picked up for a cuddle. If you’re looking for a breed that’s equal parts entertaining and endearing, Silkies are the perfect fit!
